"Netherlands' Lion Labels for
Belgian Internment Camps"

                           By Greg Balagian

This cover is franked with a Netherlands internment camp stamp dated February 7, 1916 to Belgium. The green label is tied to the cover by a purple oval handstamp of Camp Harderwijk, then by the camp datestamp. The stamp is initialed by a camp official; the cover also bears the German "Zurück weil unzulässig" ("Return unacceptable").

Dr. Jim Sanderson’s new book, Small Wild Cats: The Animal Answer Guide, has been created to answer the many questions that arise about these small but unique creatures we enjoy on stamps.

Dr. Sanderson is a Fellow of the Wildlife Conservation Network and the founder of the Small Cat Conservation Alliance. He is also a COSSU member.

Artist Patrick Watson produced the original artwork in the book and is a co-author. Many of the the photos are in color.

The book, published by The Johns Hopkins University Press, is available from Jim in soft or hard cover.  If you are interested, contact Jim at gato_andino@yahoo.com.  The book is $45 hard cover and $24.95 softcover plus $3.95 shipping.
